Summer time. Check your rabbits frequently.

It’s officially summer! And that means the sun is out and the thermometer is rising ☀️ As we get ready to enter a heat wave this week, here are some tips to keep your bunnies safe and cool! 1. Bunnies do not tolerate temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so be sure to have your AC or fans turned on (just make sure you do not blow them directly on your bunny!). If the room feels too hot, move them to the coolest room in your house. Check your bunny’s ears regularly to see if they feel too warm. 2. Provide frozen water bottles with the labels removed or cool tiles to lay on. One of our favorite products is the @thewellkeptrabbit Hop n’ Flops that allow you to insert frozen water bottles inside the pad! We also love Scratch and Newton’s Ice Pods available on Amazon. 3. If your bunnies are outside, move them inside ASAP. They should never be in direct sun or heat. 4. Hydration is key! Provide accessible, fresh water at all times and water-drenched veggies to encourage enrichment and hydration. 5. Be sure to keep an eye on your bunny. If they seem lethargic and are not eating or going to the bathroom, please reach out to your local exotic vet.
