It is with deep regret & profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of a 45 year dedicated life member of Roosevelt Engine Co. #3, Barbara Cary. Barbara has spent numerous years as Lt. In the Roosevelt Rescue Squad and held numerous other civil positions within the district. This includes the Treasurer for the Department, Secretary of Co. #3, as well as secretary for the Dutchess County Chiefs Council right up until the day she passed.
The fire service was more than a commitment for Barbara — it was a calling. Over four and a half decades, Barbara became a mentor, a teacher, a trusted friend, and an inspiration to generations of firefighters & EMT's. She shared knowledge freely, led by example, and showed us that true leadership isn't measured by rank, but by character, integrity, and heart.
Though we grieve today, we are also profoundly grateful. Grateful for the sacrifices made, the memories shared, the wisdom passed down, and the example of a life lived with purpose and honor. Thank you, Barbara, for 45 remarkable years of dedication, loyalty, courage, and love for this community. Your watch may be over, but your legacy will never fade.
Please keep the Cary family in your thoughts & prayers as well as all the members of the Roosevelt Fire District.
Keep watching over us from the floor above. RIP Barb we've got it from here.

🇺🇸🎆 HYDE PARK FOURTH OF JULY PARADE REMINDER 🎆🇺🇸

Ladies and gentlemen… it’s that time of year again.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Town of Hyde Park will once again host our annual Fourth of July Parade — and this year is EXTRA special as we celebrate the 250th Birthday of the United States of America!

With that being said, we are expecting LARGE crowds and a BIG turnout throughout town.

-ROAD CLOSURES-
Albany Post Road will be CLOSED at:
• E. Market St.
• Farm Lane

In addition, ALL side streets along the parade route will also be closed for the duration of the parade.

Now for the important yearly reminder…

“But Officer, I just need to get right up the road quick!”

No.
You do not.
You will not.
And every year we somehow still have this conversation.

Once the parade begins, traffic will NOT be getting through until the route is clear. Please plan ahead and seek alternate routes before heading into the area.

We will have additional patrols assigned throughout the parade route to help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable event.

We are looking forward to another fantastic Hyde Park tradition and encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the parade, celebrate America’s 250th birthday, and have a great time with family and friends.

Please remember to hydrate, stay cool, and enjoy the festivities responsibly.

From all of us at the Town of Hyde Park — have a safe and Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
