What Happened to 90 Million Acres of Native American Land? - Vassar Stories - Admissions - Vassar College As a result of the Dawes Act of 1887, 90 million acres of Native American reservation lands in the West were sold to non-Indians. Ford scholar Courtney Geiss ’18 is researching federal records to study the role played by the federal agents who enforced the law.
