We 👏🏼 love 👏🏼 fiber 👏🏼 education 👏🏼

Destiny of Seattle Yarn and Huephoria Fibers is interested in adding hand dyed local wool to their shop offerings. Where to start?

Wool for the People! It’s always a joy to take someone through a fleece sale and help them find exactly what they are looking for. What we see as millers and what they can expect as indie dyers and hand spinners.

Long Live Local Wool!

Competition was fierce at the sales tables this year but we managed to snag a fleece Kas was eyeing since pre-judging…it won Reserve Champion! That means this 100% natural silver colored Romney, grown in Maple Valley WA by Lin and Al Schwider, will be the next fleece in our Best Of line!

Lin and Al also grew the Grand Champion Romney this year, congrats to them for sweeping the top two (and probably more) spots!

Shepherds to handspinners, we recommend fleece judging as an educational tool for everyone. Producers, for a low judging fee you get amazing feedback from the experts on both the quality of your fleeces and your show prep (skirting, shearing, etc).

Handspinners and fiber artists, this is an amazing resource to increase your wool knowledge. As an expert I still attend all of the fleece judging I am able to, even after fifteen years I learn something new almost every time. Judges are an incredible resource, will often narrate what they are doing, what forms the decisions they make, and are often available for questions.

If you have the opportunity to attend a fleece judging, take it.
