Some things are bigger than baseball

Thank you to DJ Gladney of the Somerset Patriots (a New York Yankees affiliate) for escorting today's Hero at Hadlock, Khloe, around the basepaths.

Khloe was just five years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia on June 1, 2024. Since then, she has faced more than a dozen hospital stays, countless treatments, and many challenges with incredible courage and a smile that continues to brighten every room.

Throughout her journey, Khloe has missed school, lost her hair, moved to a new town, and made new friends—all while working hard through every treatment. Along the way, she and her family found compassionate care from the team at MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital Pediatric Cancer Care, Blood Disorders and IV Therapies, with support made possible through the Maine Children's Cancer Program Fund. Her little sister, Kashmir, has been by her side every step of the way.

Now in remission, Khloe is looking forward to ringing the bell this September to celebrate the end of her treatment. She loves swimming, playing with her friends, and making people laugh. Slugger The Sea Dog's hospital visits always brought an extra smile, and earlier this year Khloe's Make-A-Wish Maine came true when she visited Epic Universe in Orlando and met Mario.

Khloe and her family are incredibly grateful for the love and support they've received throughout their journey, and they're excited for this next chapter—one filled with the simple joy of being a kid again.
