Chive flowers are a gorgeous edible blossom. Use them as a garnish, dry them or infuse them. As they're only around for a short time, you can preserve their delicate flavour long after the flowers have faded.
My Chive Flower Vinegar is fun to make and one of my favourite seasonal kitchen projects. Simply infuse fresh chive flowers in a light-coloured vinegar to create a beautiful pink vinegar with a delicate chive flavour for salads, vegetables and dressings throughout the year.
White balsamic vinegar is my favourite, but rice vinegar, white wine vinegar, champagne vinegar and raw apple cider vinegar are all excellent choices.
If you're looking to add extra food as medicine benefits, choose raw apple cider vinegar. It's also perfect for making shrubs, fire cider and herbal tonics.
A simple way to preserve the beauty and flavour of chive flowers in a bottle.
The recipe is in this week's Chef's Table & Whole Plant Life, alongside Nasturtium Salad, Strawberry Rhubarb Oat & Quinoa Bake, and a few other fabulous in-season food as medicine recipes.
My food as medicine membership offers a 14-day free trial so you can follow an anti-inflammatory eating style and the growing season each week and leverage the healing power of food through your member portal + toolkit.

Your Tonic + Vitality Food as Medicine Weekly Newsletter
As we move into the warmer seasons and start eating more salads, smoothies and raw foods, it's important to remember that raw foods are energetically colder and can be harder for some people to digest. One of the simplest ways to support digestion is through the intentional use of herbs and spices in dishes and healthy anti-inflammatory dressings.
This week's menu focuses on tonic foods rich in nutrients and compounds that support the body's natural cleansing and detoxification processes while helping nourish the immune system with anti-inflammatory, vitamin + mineral and high-fibre whole ingredients.
Ginger features throughout the menu, adding warmth to balance the cool energetics of fruits and vegetables while helping support digestion. Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, making it one of my favourite Food as Medicine ingredients during seasonal transitions.
You'll also find recipes featuring beets, asparagus, leafy greens, fresh herbs and Asian-inspired flavours. Beets contain compounds including betaine, folate, antioxidants and dietary fibre that help support digestion and liver function, while asparagus provides a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and beneficial plant compounds.
Spices such as ginger, cumin, paprika, chilli, turmeric, black pepper, mustard, allspice, clove and anise are naturally warming. Herbs including mint, parsley, dill, basil, fennel, cilantro, sage, rosemary and thyme can help support digestion and nutrient absorption while adding fresh seasonal flavour to meals.
Add these recipes and ingredients into your routine and use the healing power of plants to support your energy and vitality.
There are over 700 anti-inflammatory recipes for BK members to explore, plus hundreds of free recipes available on my website. Every recipe includes a BK Member-exclusive toolkit to help you build shopping lists, create weekly menu plans, save favourites, track habits and access practical resources that make anti-inflammatory eating simple, approachable and easy to integrate into everyday life.

LETTER TO MY RESET MEMBERS... tmw we begin our 14-day Food as Medicine Reset.
Good Morning and Happy Friday!
As you wrap up the week and get ready to start your reset journey, the things to think about are how do you want to feel?
What are your health goals? What does healthcare success look like for you? We talk about business success and financial success every day, but not about health success, and the truth is our health is our wealth - our health is what gives us the energy and capability to achieve all the things we do every day, including our business and financial success.
Inflammation is at the root of dis-ease – pain, discomfort, stiffness, headaches, stomach + skin issues, etc and low-grade long-term inflammation increases our risk of chronic disease - and we definitely do not want that.
The foundation for using food as medicine is following an anti-inflammatory eating style - reducing inflammation in the body.
Gluten + Dairy + Sugar are all inflammatory — the food as medicine path to help you achieve your healthcare success is following an anti-inflammatory eating style, and that is what we are going to do in the next 14 days - we are going to set the foundation, and I will guide you through how to do that.
Today I would like you to hold space for thinking about ingredients or foods you eat every day and how we can start swapping those for an anti-inflammatory version; that is the framework—swapping— it's a nourishing, not punishing, process.
If you feel like you want a reset and want to slide into a seat at the last minute, you can; I will close registration this evening. Our reset call is at 10am est tmw when I begin to get to do the fun stuff -- guiding people how to make eating style changes to support their health. We have an amazing group and mix of healthcare professionals and people who are serious about supporting their health, such a great group and stunning energy.
