A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 9 PM for parts of western Maine and northern New Hampshire, including areas around Rumford, Dixfield, and Errol.
At around 8:15 PM, a strong storm was located just north of Berlin, moving east quickly at about 50 mph.
This storm could bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters. That means possible damage to trees, roofs, siding, and vehicles.
Heavy rain is also falling and could lead to flash flooding, so avoid driving through flooded roads.
There is also a low chance a tornado could develop, so stay alert. If a warning is issued or you see rotation, head to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor.
Stay indoors and away from windows until the storm passes.
