Today is Bryon’s 56th bday! We wish he was here to blow out candles 💝 and tackle hug our kids that look & are so much like him xo

I wrote this a few months ago after Rula and I had a deeper conversation on our lives. She wanted me to share this with Bryon’s boss Steve Denari at KATU and now w you all.

After Bryon died I couldn’t listen to music because every song reminded me of him but I couldn’t have a quiet house because it made me sad to hear my own thoughts. So I decided to put a tv in every room and I put on sports all day/night because he never watched sports and the background noise was the best. Could always hear cheering and for me it felt like they were cheering me on. Like gooo Tiff, you can do it… mostly just getting through the day but was usually just trying to pull it together for the kids like how can I get through doing the dishes, laundry, dinner w/o crying my face off. It was sports that bridged this for me. I actually was never sitting and watching but turns out Rula was and she was only 6 years old. So flash forward 10 years later… she just recently told me that she wants to be a sports reporter/broadcaster. I flipped. I was like omggg my grief coping mechanism influenced her all those years. She has been absorbing every game, every team, every player, every coach, every sport, every season for 10 years and she knows her stuff, she knows history, stats, teams and I am blown away!! It is soo soo cool and so so bittersweet. I had no idea it had influenced her this much. She’s the coolest and is such a perfect career for her. Is there anyway she can come in this summer to shadow/intern anybody in sports or even with you or your team? She would love to start building her resume and pursue her passion.
