Highlighting Animals in Kevin Kadar's exhibition "Recent Landscapes and Seascapes, a Memorial Career Survey"

Kevin Kadar loved animals, he especially loved cows, and was a vegan most of his life as a result. The cow is an image that appeared throughout many of his later paintings. Sometimes the cows were just standing out in a field, sometimes they were holding up the rear of a parade of animals.

Known for his diverse range of paintings, Kevin, in his early working years, mainly painted figures. Over time his palette expanded and his images grew beyond figures into complex landscapes and detailed dreamscape scenes. In 2017, overwhelmed by the political climate of the time, Kadar shifter away from painting figures almost entirely and started to paint animals instead. These animals stood in for and took on the human traits he was trying to distance himself from.

Here is a selected range of Kevin Kadar paintings that feature animals.
See how many you can spot!
