Last month, the Portland Police Bike Squad, Central Precinct, East Precinct, and Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit teamed up with the FBI and U.S. District Attorney to arrest two suspects accused of dealing m**h around our affordable housing complexes.
These buildings aren’t just structures. They are communities of people who deserve to live in peace, without chaos and violence invading their homes. We cannot – and will not – allow criminals and drug dealers to prey on them.
That's why I'm so proud of these officers.
Every gun, every knife, every bag of drugs taken off the street helps to save a life. This is how we break the cycle of addiction and keep our community safe and strong. This is what public safety is all about.
I am grateful to these officers for their service. It means everything.

I’m not old enough to remember the first time the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was introduced in 1923 (despite what my kids say). What I do know is that gender equality should be enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, and I’m proud to join other “Mayors for ERA” in petitioning to make it our 28th Amendment.

I invite you to join a virtual, know your rights training. The information will cover common scenarios, resources for business owners and community members, and tips for preparing yourself as a small business owner for immigration enforcement visits.
I am grateful to the City of Portland Immigrant Affairs Lead and Clear Clinic's Immigration Attorney and Community Engagement Manager for this opportunity.
