OnGrade Studio
Greetings! Tiny Drop Vessels (in person) starts on Saturday. Trigger Warning: Criminal (under) use of kiln space in this one! đ.
In this short, fun workshop Nathan will try to prove that bigger isnât better. Maybe smaller is better? Letâs find out and learn the finer points of creating tiny dropout vessels. Classroom projects will fit in your pocket at 2â in diameter. While making them youâll learn multiple ways to design and create an appropriate blank and transform a few of them into micro vessels in the kiln and coldshop. At the end of the first day, we'll load kilns for the first of two firings. During the week in between sessions Nathan will re-fire the resulting fused blanks and turn them into amazing little drop vessels/bud vases. Students can schedule flexible work time during the week to assist or just monitor the process but attendance isn't mandatory until the 3rd. Students will leave the second day of the workshop with a small handful (seriously) of completed vessels. There are no prerequisites other than a willingness to explore and be challenged a bit while learning.
