to be celebrating my 12th mother’s day

really know her
to be loved by her

to laugh with her
to watch her grow
and stretch
and learn
to be challenged by her
to have her push against me
and then ask me to scratch her back at night
to be her safe place

there’s no shortage of beautiful locations, whether you want to frolic through grassy fields, run barefoot on the beach, let your kids skip rocks in the river, explore the mountains, or stay cozy in your own backyard… the sun is (almost) guaranteed to show up for us.

if you’re thinking about summer photos and have a vision in mind, here are a few things to consider:

• if you’re hoping for flowers, aim for june–early july for wildflowers, or august for sunflowers
• for lush green grass, early june is your sweet spot
• dreaming of tall golden grass + glowy light? that’s in late july–august
