Shaker And Vine
Hi for probably (maybe ;-) ) my last time. First I have to thank those who wrote me with kind words and expressions of sympathy and upset. I do not blame the Fire Marshal, nor the City of Portland. There is no power in regret or remorse or blame. I choose instead to learn all the lessons, good and bad, and rise above them. I have been so happy to hear your words of encouragement and gratitude. I think it was a great space enjoyed by many. For that I am grateful. And now a moment on my soapbox.
Please support local independent businesses as if it's their last day, for it might be one day. We work hard, at big expense, and for many hours. And in my last hours I have met some extraordinary business owners worth mentioning. I would love for you to support them, as they have supported me both financially but more importantly emotionally thru these last two weeks. They are:
DeNicolas Italian Restaurant on Powell at about 37th. All you can eat spaghetti and meatballs for $7.95 Sunday thru Tuesday. Can't beat that with a stick!
Vie de Boheme wine bar on 7th just south of Hawthorne. Leni is a sweetheart who works hard to have a wine bar and music venue for everyone's entertainment
Noble Rot and it's new infant, Nobleoni (at the School of Arts and Craft); these girls rock! And
Channel's Edge at N Bridgeton Road overlooking the houseboats. Kim and Bob are gentle souls you'd want to give your money to
All of these women were overly kind to me. Please return the kindness by visiting them. Tell them I sent you.
Love always, Lesa
Couches, chairs, and tables are for the most part free for the taking. Grab a friend with a truck and plan to come by. Email me at [email protected] and I will let you know when I'm there. Pool table and foosball table also ready to find new forever homes! Let me hear from you. -Lesa
Going out of business sale. Sad but true. Through May 17th, all wine, beer and hard cider (TO GO only) will be 30% off, and no corkage fees will be charged for wines consumed on premise. I don't want the employees tips to go down so no discount on beverages enjoyed in-house. Music most evenings through May 17. And if anyone needs a great bartender or a great cook, i have two fantastic employees looking for work soon. Thanks for all your Facebook likes, your patronage, and the many good times. Please support the staff by coming in for some adult beverages in-house, and taking home some wine or beer. And if anyone is interested in the furnishings, equipment, gaming stuff, etc., please send me a message. I want everything in place until May 18; that leaves liquidation and packing for the rest of May. Cheers! Lesa and Stu
It's with a heavy heart that we announce that, due to an insurmountable Fire Marshal issue, Shaker and Vine will stop hosting live performances as of May 18, 2014. We would appreciate your support through that date to show support for a local business just trying to do the right thing in Portland. It's been a great ride, but all great rides eventually come to a screeching halt. Not sure of the fate of the business but we are still on board until May 18. Hope to see you soon!
