☀️ Summer means pool days, lake trips, and time by the water — but drowning remains a leading cause of injury and death for kids. The American Academy of Pediatrics has released updated guidance on drowning prevention, emphasizing that no single safety measure is enough on its own. Layers of protection are key: supervision + barriers + swim skills + CPR knowledge=safer kids.

The policy also highlights that some groups face higher drowning risk than others, which is important for families and providers to know. 💦

Oregon's new universal cCMV screening law (effective April 2026) changes how we catch and manage these cases. Our latest blog has everything you need to know. Read the full blog post: https://oregonpediatricsociety.org/congenital-cmv-what-pediatric-providers-need-to-know-in-2026/
