Fiddlehead Farm

People often ask us what we do in the summer since we are a fall/winter focused farm. It’s a fair question! To harvest food in the fall and winter, the process starts in early spring and is a full year commitment. We spend the spring and summers prepping beds, seeding, planting, and caring for the crops. In addition to all this fun, July-October is our bulk harvest season for all storage crops. Some veggies (like leeks for example) we seed in March and harvest until the following March. Winter farming is a long game!

It has felt like spring this week! The February fake out is here and we are soaking it up. We are still deep in the winter harvest season and not slowing anytime soon, but we have been enjoying sneaking off to w**d and roll up drip tape in between harvest tasks. ☀️

Pink! It’s the new obsession around here these days. It really cuts through the grey and pops like nothing else. And, it’s chicory week! Thanks to the efforts to educate and spread the good word about chicories. We ❤️ them and all the work they are doing! We hope you all are checking out their sagra happening tomorrow at the redd, but either way, come grab some gorgeous chicories at our booth tomorrow!
