Meet the OVTAA Board of Directors: Gabe Sasse, CVPM

Gabe is OVTAA’s Board Secretary and is Hospital Director at Bethany Family Pet Clinic, a full-service GP in Portland. She grew up in the Midwest, checking the boxes on Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan and moved to Oregon over 10 years ago. She has a BS in Equine Business Management and Western Equine Studies from the University of Findlay in Ohio, and fell into vet med as an assistant for her horse’s vet. She joined companion animal medicine when she moved to Oregon, starting as a CCR, then Lead CCR, and then as a Practice Manager starting in 2021. “I’ve really enjoyed being able to see all parts that vet med has to offer, and want to be able to give back to that community that has been so patient and kind with my questions and own animals’ care,” she says. “I want to not only draw people into this industry, but keep them here.” Gabe co-founded OVTAA’s Practice Manager training program, VITAL (Veterinary Training Industry and Leadership), now on it’s third year. When not at work, she enjoys hiking and camping with her husband Kevin and rescue mutt Leopold, reading with her three cats (Rupert, Roland, & Archibald) piled around her, and visiting the various breweries and wineries around the beautiful PNW.
