This Memorial Day, Lines for Life honors the service members who gave their lives for our country and stands with the veterans, military families, and communities still carrying that loss forward.

For many, today brings grief, difficult memories, or a quiet sense of isolation. A single conversation can change that.

The Military Helpline is here 24/7, staffed by people trained in military culture who pick up the phone ready to listen with care.

Oregon just made history for young people in mental health crisis.

On May 7, Gov. Tina Kotek held a signing ceremony for Senate Bill 1546. A bill Lines for Life proudly championed alongside a coalition of behavioral health advocates.

SB 1546 requires AI companion platforms operating in Oregon to detect signs of suicidal ideation or self-harm and immediately connect users in crisis to resources like the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Additional protections apply when the user is a minor. Platforms must also report crisis referral data to the Oregon Health Authority, creating a public record of whether these companies are connecting people to help.

"New technology must be responsible," Gov. Kotek said at the signing ceremony.

This law recognizes something we have believed for a long time: AI companions should never replace real human care. And when someone is at their lowest, they deserve to be connected to support that can actually help.
