This Inuit doll has a lot of personality! He is depicted as a drummer, complete with tiny gut skinned drum and wooden be**er. He is also wrapped in a warm fur parka, leggings and traditional mukluks, making him a portrait of arctic culture. The artist has carved his face from wood, and used small glass beads for the eyes and tiny pieces of walrus ivory for the teeth. All of the details in this man’s face really capture a lovely energy and attitude, making us wonder if perhaps he is inspired by someone the artist knew. There is a lovely amount of detail in the stitching of the shoes and leggings as well, and the drum head is beautifully transparent.
