State-sanctioned kidnappings are not new to our communities. From roaming slave patrols to our stolen Native brothers and sisters from their homelands, these were all once considered to be “legal”. So long as these actions could be defended in a court they were permissible. Never was the morality of their actions taken into account. The Universal Law that no one man can rule over another.

What hurts me most is the endured suffering of our communities and the ongoing trauma we are inflicted. The generations old fear that has leached into our DNA.

But you know what? We endure. We fight back. We take care of each other and outlast every one of these racist f***s with a smile on our face. Our joy is a form of resistance. Our song, our dance, our love, our stories. We always, always overcome.
