It was my great pleasure to reconnect with my Co- Co-Chair of the Saliva Working Group for Alzheimer’s Disease, Dr. Chi Udeh-Momoh at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in London.

Dr. Udeh-Momoh is a highly respected, globally renowned translational neuroscientist whose work focuses on dementia prediction, early detection, and prevention. Her research reflects the importance of understanding how biomarkers and modifiable lifestyle factors may help us identify cognitive decline earlier and support better long-term outcomes. Collectively we are involved in multiple projects around the world, including the Worldwide FINGERS Project where saliva will play an important role

I was particularly interested to see her research exploring the relationship between sleep disturbances, Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers, and cognitive impairment in older adults. This type of interdisciplinary work is essential as the scientific and medical communities continue searching for more accessible and effective approaches to early detection and prevention.

Meetings such as AAIC provide an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from leading researchers, and strengthen the collaborations needed to move diagnostic science forward.

It was wonderful to see you again, Chi, and I look forward to following your continued contributions to dementia research.

As CEO of Oasis Diagnostics, I am always encouraged to see saliva-based testing gaining recognition in areas where patients urgently need faster, less invasive answers.

The recent coverage around a new National Health Service [NHS] -supported “spit test” for endometriosis is a very important development from the United Kingdom. Endometriosis can take many years to diagnose, and for too many women, that means a long journey of pain, uncertainty, and repeated medical visits before finally receiving answers.

A saliva-based test that helps shorten that diagnostic pathway represents more than just a technological advancement. It represents a more patient-friendly approach to healthcare.

At Oasis, we have believed for many years that saliva has enormous potential as a diagnostic medium. It is easy to collect, non-invasive, and can help make testing more accessible in both clinical and decentralized settings. Seeing saliva being explored for complex conditions such as endometriosis reinforces what many of us in this field have been working toward: earlier detection, better access, and a better patient experience.

This is another strong example of how salivary diagnostics can help move healthcare forward and bring meaningful innovation closer to the people who need it most.

One of the best parts of the ADA meeting was the opportunity to spend time with people who are not only active in oral health, but who are also thinking seriously about where the field is going next.

I was very pleased to be with Dr. Arash Hakhamian and Dr. Roya Khosravi-Far.

Arash brings an impressive combination of clinical dental experience, entrepreneurship, education, and technology-driven thinking. His work reflects the changing role of dentistry — from traditional care delivery to broader conversations around access, innovation, teledentistry, patient engagement, and the future of oral health.

Roya brings a strong scientific and strategic perspective from the life sciences and precision medicine. Her work in diagnostics and early detection aligns closely with the growing recognition that oral health and systemic health are deeply connected.

What I appreciated most about this conversation was the mix of perspectives: clinical, scientific, entrepreneurial, and practical. These are exactly the types of discussions that help move ideas forward and create real progress for patients.

At OASIS, we believe the future of healthcare will require stronger collaboration between dentistry, diagnostics, and life sciences. Spending time with people like Arash and Roya reinforces how important that collaboration will be.

It was a pleasure to see them both at the ADA meeting, and I look forward to continuing the conversation.
