Thinking about bringing this glaze series back.

About five years ago, this collection was born from what I used to call my “Happy Accident Series.” It started with disappointment. I had glazed a batch of pieces with a single cone 06 glaze, pulled them from the kiln, and felt completely underwhelmed by the results.

Instead of scrapping the idea, I decided to reglaze them.

What happened next was completely unexpected. The first glaze firing had created subtle crazing across the surface. When I dipped the pieces into a second glaze, that glaze settled into all of those tiny cracks, creating a beautiful network of texture and color. The glaze stayed thin across the smooth areas while pooling into the crazed lines, producing a result I never could have planned.

The process was incredibly delicate. The glaze would wipe away with the slightest touch, so I had to handle each piece carefully and place them directly into the kiln with glaze tongs to avoid fingerprints or disturbing the pattern.

The final firing revealed something entirely new and it sparked a whole series of experiments with different color combinations. Out of all of them, this one has always remained one of my favorites.

Lately I’ve been thinking about revisiting this process.

What do you think? Should I bring this series back? Let me know in the comments.
