Creative Metal Arts Guild
Use stone, shell, and gem fragments to create a vibrant and colorful inlay pendant! 🌈 No experience needed, all levels welcome in this one-day workshop.
Instructor Debra Carus, will show you how to crush your stone into various sized pieces to create a field of color or mosaic effects in your jewelry. Starting with a recessed metal design, similar to champleve enameling, students will fill their pieces with the gem fragments and once complete polish everything into a beautiful shiny finish.
Bring your own broken rocks, shells, or gem scraps, or use the colorful materials provided in class.

May Member Meeting
Join CMAG member Rachel Morris of Eclectic Nature Jewelry & Design May 19 at our regular meeting as she takes us through a slideshow about traditional and non-traditional clasps, and shows hands-on samples of more than a dozen types of findings you can use to bring form and function into harmony.
She’ll be covering pros, cons, and some critical factors to consider when deciding what closure is best for your design.
Got an in-flight project but no clue how you’ll close it? Bring it and we’ll brainstorm ideas!

Graceful. Timeless. Emblematic. 🌑🔥
Kari Phillips’ () early career in fine art museums was the foundation for her explorative homage to ancient emblems and modern art movements. Each piece is handcrafted in her Portland, Oregon studio, fabricated with consideration toward revival and originality; form and material; intent and the wearer. As art is a reflection of time, jewelry is a reflection of self. Inspired by the vastness of art, her pieces are a historical homage, intended to communicate individuality and a distinct personal point of view. You can engage with Kari’s work at this year’s Gathering of the Guilds at the Oregon Convention Center, this weekend, April 24th - 26th.
