YIKES… this guy was riding his e-scooter down Pacific Highway out of Tigard this morning going about 52 mph. Wearing shorts and a helmet, he was in the bike lane then moved into traffic. At one point squatting down on the scooter, almost sitting… then taking a left before we got into Sherwood. Scooters are a great form of transportation, but 50+ mph? This was taken off my dashcam as I was headed to a fire. The second time this week I encountered these things in speeding traffic. Pretty sure riding e-scooters and e-bikes at highway speed is not legal. As a traffic reporter that has to see way too many dead bodies peeled off the roads, it’s concerning to see this situation more and more often. At the very least these vehicles should be certified to be at highway speed with a licensed rider. What do you think about e-bikes and e-scooters in traffic?
