I thought it was time to share a personal update, to help explain why I haven’t been as present at or here in social media.
Not gonna lie, the past few years have been HARD. I quit my teaching job, had a mild mental breakdown, applied to grad school, took a year of prerequisite classes (including physics and calculus, yuck) followed by another two years of OT school, while working Fridays and Saturdays to make a little bit of cash.
Within all of THAT… my favorite professor had a stroke, my campus and community in Lewiston was impacted by a mass shooting, my Nana died, my father-in-law was hospitalized and had to move in with us, and my father was suffering from a massive brain tumor he refused to seek care for, resulting in his untimely death. Not to mention watching the fall of democracy and rise of fascism while my country helps fund genocide. Oh, and just a couple weeks ago I was fired for truly no good reason, right before the $ummer money started rolling in.
All of this is to say…. Things are really hard right now, but I persist. Some days I want to give up, other days I want to keep fighting, and keep smiling. While these years have been rife with struggle and despair, they’ve also been full of love and hope. I’m on a path to do what I love, and I am learning sooo freaking much. I’ve spent a lot of sweet, precious time with family and I’ve been reminded not to take any of it for granted. I’ve worked with tons of amazing people - in the service industry and healthcare field - and have become a better listener, problem solver, and friend.
If you’re still reading, thank you for taking the time to do so. I’m not really sure what I’m trying to do with this post, but I suppose I just wanted y’all to know what’s been going on with me.
As for the FUTURE! I am thrilled to be stepping back into the studio for Yin Yoga at 6:45pm on Mondays, starting in September. I have so much new knowledge and respect for the body that I am excited to share with you guys! I’m also teaching a handful of Outdoor Family Yoga classes on Sunday 7/27, 8/17 and 9/14 with , plus one Pop Up class with on Saturday 8/9.
