My mom was an artist. She was constantly creating. Beautiful hand-carved wood signs, paintings, many drawings of my brother, sister and I.

One day she decided the store in our small town needed signs for their aisles. So she made them. Hand-carved signs. But she didn’t know how to approach the owner and ask him to buy them.

So I did.

I walked in, explained their value to his store, and advocated for her work. He bought them and hired her to work at the store part-time. It became a job she loved.

At the time, I didn’t realize I was learning what I would later build a career around.

Today, through SBD Agency, I help creative people translate their work into something the world can understand and invest in.

The bridge between artistry and practicality is what I work to build for our clients.

You might say the Home Industry is the foundation of SBD Agency. Not only have we done a lot of work for companies serving various aspects of the home industry, but founder Snow Blackwood got her start as editor of Oregon Home Magazine (OHM). In 2013, she started as a temporary art director, but her talents were quickly recognized, and she moved into a full time, permanent, associate publisher role. From there, Snow became editor and creative director, during which tenure she garnered the unofficial title of “savior.” The magazine had been losing readership until Snow completely revamped the branding and layout, remodeling and renovating the magazine into one that defined Oregon style on thick matte-finish paper. The result, in a word, was success.

Snow left OHM in 2016 with a lot of knowledge about the local home industry, including contacts who became SBD clients. And now with a talented team of creative pros behind her, SBD Agency, specializes in helping companies that work for the home industry.
