☀ Portland summers are getting hotter!
As Multnomah County Health Department Officer Dr. Richard Bruno shares, those at high risk include:
✔Older adults, especially men over 50 who live alone
✔People without access to air conditioning
✔People engaging in strenuous or outdoor recreational activities (especially children on turf fields)
✔Pregnant people
✔People who work in hot indoor or outdoor environments
✔People taking certain medications or who have consumed alcohol
Make a plan to stay cool this summer.

Before the Independence Day celebrations start, take these steps from Multnomah County Animal Services to keep your pets🐾 safe:
🏠 Secure your home: Keep the doors and windows closed and watch out for places where panicking pets might escape.
🫂Create a safe space: Set up a comfortable space in the center of your home with a bed and water for your pet.
Be present: You can calm your pet better than any pet-sitter or kennel staff member.
🚗 Prevent: Never bring your pets to firework displays or leave them locked in hot cars.
🆔 Check IDs and microchips: Make sure your pets are licensed, microchipped and wearing collars with tags that have the current contact information on them.
Multnomah County Animal Services will be open on July 3 and July 5 to help with lost and found pets, but closed on July 4.

🦅 A friendly reminder that a majority of services offered over email, phone, and in-person will be unavailable on Friday, July 3 and/or Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day, including:
🔴 Multnomah County Health Department and community health centers, including dental clinics, pharmacies, and Student Health Centers (Closed July 3 and July 4)
⚪ Multnomah County Division of Recording, Assessment, and Taxation in-person, email, chat, and phone services (Closed July 3)
🔵 Multnomah County Library administration offices (Closed July 3)
🔴 Multnomah County Library branches (Closed July 4)
⚪ Multnomah County Animal Services (Closed July 4)
Normal business hours will resume Countywide on either Sunday, July 5 or Monday, July 6, depending on offices usual operating hours.
