In NICUs across the country, one possibly preventable disease continues to loom over the most vulnerable patients: necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). NEC is a devastating intestinal illness that primarily affects premature babies and can lead to life-threatening complications. It can steal far too many precious moments from families.

Our NICU team (pictured here) is helping raise awareness about NEC and the importance of ongoing research, prevention, and quality improvement efforts aimed at reducing — and ultimately eliminating — this devastating disease.
