Tomorrow evening, July 2nd from 5โ7 PM, please join us at the gallery for the opening of This marks the galleryโs first exhibition dedicated to secondary market works by both active artists and artistsโ estates. The more-than-fifty selected works for this inaugural show create a conversation between distinct moments in contemporary art and highlight connections across generations.
As its title suggests, ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ฏ๐ถ๐ถ๐ฎ emphasizes continuity and reflects a significant expansion of Russo Lee Galleryโs longstanding commitment to the artists and collectors who have shaped its history. The secondary market offers an opportunity to revisit important works, reconsider them within a broader historical context, and introduce them to new audiences. By bringing these works back into public view, the exhibition underscores the enduring relevance and the lasting relationships between artists and collectors.
Comprised of paintings, sculpture, and works on paper, featured artists include Jay Backstrand, Michael Brophy, Judith Poxson Fawkes, Tom Fawkes, Gregory Grenon, Roll Hardy, Frederick Heidel, Manuel Izquierdo, Fay Jones, Mel Katz, Michihiro Kosuge, Elizabeth Malaska, Michael Paul Miller, Geoffrey Pagen, Lucinda Parker, Renรฉ Rickabaugh, Anne Siems, Eric Stotik, Akio Takamori, Gina Wilson, Sherrie Wolf, and Samantha Yun Wall.

Tomorrow evening, from 5โ7, please join us at the gallery for the opening of ๐๐ฆ๐ธ ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ด, an exhibition of recent paintings by Tom Fawkes. Continuing his longstanding exploration of classical Italian Renaissance gardens and Mediterranean landscapes, Fawkes creates immersive compositions that draw viewers into spaces shaped by light, architecture, and memory. Working from years of travel and observation in Italy, Fawkes depicts environments that are both contemplative and transportive. His works balance architectural structure with painterly surface through intricate detail and carefully orchestrated perspective. Whether portraying the quiet geometry of formal gardens or the weathered grandeur of doors and passageways, his paintings and painted constructions evoke a timeless sense of stillness and remembrance.โ

Tomorrow evening, from 5โ7, please join us at the gallery for the opening of ๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ, a new exhibition of work by Kim Osgood. This new body of work reflects a lifelong engagement with the natural world, informed by travel, spiritual study, and years spent hiking and climbing throughout the Pacific Northwest. Drawing from forests, gardens, and mountain landscapes, her compositions are filled with birds, trees, flowers, and the presence of volcanoes. The eruption of Mt. Saint Helens proved a formative event for the artist, a reminder of natureโs capacity for both destruction and renewal. Osgoodโs paintings and monotypes evoke spaces that feel observed and dreamlike, conveying wonder and connection to the natural world.โ

Tomorrow evening, please join us at the gallery for the opening of ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ช๐จ๐ช๐ฏ, an exhibition of early works by Michael C. Spafford. The exhibition brings together a notable body of work spanning 1960 to 1967, comprising large-scale works on canvas alongside mixed media works on paper. Executed in a mostly monochromatic palette, the works in The Origin reveal a pivotal moment in Spaffordโs development as an artist, one in which abstract technique expanded to encompass iconic and mythological themes. Spafford forged a visual language rooted in narrative and archetype that would define his practice for decades to come. These early works do more than document a beginning, they shape the artistic vision that would carry Spaffordโs practice forward throughout his career of enduring significance.
