🌿📚 A place to imagine, play, and learn, planting a seed of a love of learning and reading in young minds. The new children's area at St. Johns Library is designed for little learners to explore through reading, talking, singing, writing, and play.
Inspired by the forests of the Pacific Northwest, interactive early learning features invite children to discover, create, and grow at their own pace. Surrounding the space is a magical mural by local author and illustrator Carson Ellis, celebrating the plants, animals, and wonder of nearby Forest Park, a place she knows well as a former St. Johns neighbor and library visitor.
Thanks to gifts to The Library Foundation, this interactive early learning space designed by Burgeon Group LLC is giving families a welcoming place to learn, play, and make memories together for years to come.

Dream it. Build it. Make it at your library! From 3D printing and digital art to sewing, design, coding, and more, Tween Maker Time is where your biggest ideas come to life.
Hands-on workshops let youth dive into new technology, build creative confidence, and tackle real-life challenges, all while collaborating with fellow young makers. Every session is a chance to learn something new, spark curiosity, and maybe even ignite a lifelong passion.
With support from The Library Foundation, the Creative Learning Room is opening new doors for youth by offering innovative tools, expert-led workshops, and creative adventures that inspire imagination, experimentation, and growth.

Local Caldecott Honor and New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Carson Ellis held a Storytime during the St. Johns Library reopening celebration. Her art appears on the Decemberists album covers, the Wildwood novels, and now the new mural in the St. Johns Library kids’ area. Hosted by Regional Arts & Culture Council the event was a special moment that new and long-term visitors will remember for years to come.
