Woke up to the news that the great George Hall passed away. George was more than just a professor in the Musical Theatre department. His love of music, his keen ear for nuance, and his gentle generous warmth permeated every room he entered.
I am so grateful to be one of the many RAM alums shaped by his teaching, coaching, and artistry. Every few months, I listen to George’s lecture on “Longevity” as an artist. I’ll just share one small piece:
“A great deal of the problem is not your fault… we have very badly organized society in the amount of contribution talented people like you could make to society and the amount they need that but a terrible lack of connection. […]
People need as a fundamental necessity to gather and have communal experiences.
[…] It is very important that when you wake up in the morning, you tell yourself, remind yourself: I am a performer.”
I am a performer. Thank you, George. For all you gave us. ♥️
Just a girl. Trying to do… too much.
