There will be a memorial service for Russell Libby at the MOFGA Center in Unity, Maine January 6. I wanted to share an important quotation from Russell:

"We have to challenge the idea that contamination is just the price of living in the modern world. Our bodies don't have systems to process plastics or flame retardants or pesticides. If contamination is the price of modern society, modern society has failed us."

A GREAT LOSS!!! So many of us are sadden to learn of the death of Russell Libby, former Executive Director of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. Russell was ED of MOFGA for 17 years and took the organization to become the largest state level organization in the country. It has 6,500 members, 418 certified organic farms and the 400 acre year-round education center in Unity. MOFGA sponsors the Common Ground Country Fair. Russell was a wonderful friend, colleague, booster and all-around nice guy. We will miss him so.

We are pleased to announce that Hot Suppa, 703 Congress Street in Portland is now carrying Pastor Chuck's Organic No Sugar Apple Butter on their breakfast menu. Our applesauce has been featured as a side dish for several years. It is a wonderful restaurant, if I do say so myself:-)
