We're proud to share some news from Oregon for everyone who believes in building communities where people of all ages can thrive! 🎉
In a special ceremony held at The Community for Positive Aging on May 27, AARP Oregon officially designated the State of Oregon as an Age-Friendly State, presenting Governor Tina Kotek with a certificate welcoming Oregon into the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.
Our state has been recognized for its commitment to upholding age-friendliness, setting improvement goals, and taking real action to improve vital essentials of life for older Oregonians, including housing, transportation, healthcare, and community connection.
Bridge Meadows has been proud to work alongside AARP Oregon and AGE+ Oregon to advocate for these initiatives, and we will continue to show up for this work as Oregon builds a statewide plan for aging.
💡 Did you know? Portland, Oregon was the first American city to receive the World Health Organization's Age-Friendly City designation back in 2006, thanks to the pioneering work of Portland State University's former Institute on Aging Director, Dr. Margaret Neal, and Dr. Alan DeLaTorre, Research Associate. Portland has long been a national leader in this movement, and now the whole state is officially stepping up!

Three years ago, Michele and her husband, Daniel, needed a safe, affordable place to raise their bustling household of two young adopted grandchildren and a then-teenaged son. They found that at Bridge Meadows - and so much more. ❤️💚💙
At first, Michele felt safe in her new home, but shy to open up to her new neighbors. Over time, through Bridge Meadows' family-centered "Happiness Hours" and other supportive group activities, the warmth of our community melted that fear away.
Once Michele met her elder neighbor Vivyan (pictured right), a fast friendship blossomed. Today, Vivyan enjoys a sense of purpose and a place to share her love as a cherished "Bonus Grandma" to the kids, and as a best friend to Michele and Daniel.
This is the magic of an intentional, intergenerational community. It’s where neighbors become family, and no one has to navigate life alone.
We can’t build these bridges without you.
To help more families and elders find safety, stability, purpose, and belonging, please consider supporting Bridge Meadows today. Every gift nurtures the connections that make us whole.

Big smiles and little green thumbs! 🌱
Our community garden boxes in aren't just growing veggies and flowers…they’re growing connections, too!
At Bridge Meadows, the garden boxes are a place where generations meet. You’ll often find our youth planting seeds alongside our elders, nurturing the earth together.
We love to see our budding gardeners learning how to tend to the soil and watching things grow! 🍓🌸🍅
