Prosperity doesn't trickle down. It never has.

Governor Kotek's Economic Prosperity Council has 14 business representatives, 2 labor reps, and zero community voices at the table. Now they're collecting public input through a survey that could shape Oregon's economic policy for years.

Let's be clear about what's being pushed: more tax breaks for corporations, gutting the local taxes that fund Preschool for All and affordable housing, and opening up farmland for development. These aren't new ideas.

Oregon's leaders need to say the quiet part out loud: raising taxes on the wealthy is how you invest in working families. Oregon loses an estimated $1.9 billion every year because parents can't access the workforce due to child care gaps.

That's not a social program problem — that's an economic failure. Investing in preschool, housing, and job training isn't charity. It's how you build an economy that actually works.

Real prosperity is built from the bottom up. It's built by investing in people, not by handing more breaks to the top 1% and hoping something lands on the rest of us. Oregon tried trickle-down.

Trickle-down economics didn't work in the '80s and repackaging it as 'prosperity' doesn't make it work now."

The survey closes today. Take 5 minutes and make your voice heard.

Why We Fight for Child Care - Amy’s story 💛

For Amy, the struggle to find child care wasn’t just stressful. It meant getting a job in child care - just to afford a program for her own family.

Her story is one many parents across Oregon are facing as costs rise and funding falls short. What started as a personal struggle turned into advocacy, so other parents don’t face the same barriers.

📣 Our families can’t wait. Join us in calling for a fully-funded ERDC program, and support Oregon’s child care workforce!
