Jade from a parent’s collection. Oregon black jasper found on a trip. Turquoise that feels like home.

Custom jewelry gets really good when the materials already have a life before they get to us. A place. A person. A story you can point to. We love figuring out how to carry that into the finished piece, and honestly? We’re pretty damn good at it.

Years ago, Max spotted Bradley on a dance floor. “Fanny pack, bro tank, backwards hat,” Max remembered. “That’s the man I’m going to marry.”

Years later, Bradley planned a sunset proposal in Maui with both of their moms nearby. But instead of proposing with the final ring, he chose a temporary one—so Max could be part of creating their forever rings.

At dinner that evening, Bradley surprised him with custom ring sketches by Betsy. Today, those drawings are framed in their home, a reminder that a custom piece can be meaningful long before the final design is complete.

The diamond industry was built on the idea of perfection. I’m not interested in that.

That’s one reason I keep coming back to salt and pepper diamonds. The industry has considered these stones “imperfect.” They’re full of inclusions, not crystal-clear, not uniform. In other words, they don’t fit the industry definition of flawless.

But that’s exactly what makes them special. To me, these imperfections are what give salt and pepper diamonds their character—each one completely unique, with a depth and texture you just won’t find anywhere else.

And they’re a more eco-conscious choice. They don’t require the same level of intensive sorting and mining to find “perfect” stones. They’re more abundant and make use of diamonds that might otherwise be discarded, which helps reduce waste and lessens the demand for more destructive mining practices.

Not flawless. More interesting. No perfection required.

They met for coffee on a Sunday morning after both swiping right on .

It was meant to be casual.

Three hours later, neither of them was in a hurry to leave.

They made plans for a game the next weekend—but only made it two days before seeing each other again.

and ’s story starts in SE Portland and stretches all the way to a sun-soaked proposal on a cliff in Hawaii, and into a set of rings they customized together.

It’s about knowing sooner than you expected.
About building something that actually feels like you.
And about the kind of everyday life that ends up being the best part.

Jenny and Elissa’s story is a reminder that the big moments matter—but it’s everything in between that really holds it together.

And we’re so honored they chose to invite us into that everything in between.
