The Simple Generosity Foundation

This Immigrant Heritage Month, we're celebrating an organization close to home and heart -- Maine Association for New Americans (MANA) pairs volunteers with immigrant families based on languages spoken and other personal factors to help them transition into life in Maine. Their work provides culturally grounded peer support, mental health education, cross-cultural connection, and connections with family mentors. Our executive director, Kate Brandeis, is a longtime family mentor with MANA, supporting a mom and her kids from Guatemala, as well as families from Burkina Faso and Congo.

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the rich diversity, resilience, and contributions of the AAPI community. This month—and every month—we honor the voices, cultures, and histories that shape our shared future. Let’s uplift AAPI leaders, creators, and changemakers who inspire us all.

One organization making a difference is Asian American LEAD (AALEAD), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering low-income and underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander youth and families through education, mentorship, and community advocacy.
