Happy third birthday to Imperfect Parts, the record that taught me more about myself as a musician, producer, and frankly an all-around person than any other thing I’ve ever created. and I tracked much of this album in his mom’s garage in Scio, OR during the pandemic, while many other parts were tracked remotely in my home state of MN by co-producers and . I knew I was essentially starting my music career over, completely. I had just moved to a new state for the second time in my thirties. I was still learning to love myself, and doing my best to believe that anyone would welcome this new kid to town.

Shortly after officially moving to Portland, I released my record. Since then, this city has become home, friends have become family, and the roots I’ve put down have become a whole forest. My next record, now in production thanks to and ’s Echo Fund, is both the city’s gift to me and my gift to the city.

There are times when I am SO hard on myself, times when I feel like I’m not doing enough, working hard enough, or being as “successful” as I want to be. Then I look back at the past three years and see that more has happened with my music career during that timespan than the entire rest of my career altogether.

I guess this is all to say thank you to all of you. Not only have I felt welcomed, loved and accepted, but I feel believed in. For a long time I feared that by now I would be too mentally drained to keep going with all of this, when in reality I think I’m just getting started.

Just a few of my favorite shots by our local photography legend from Thursday’s show. Y’all I am still riding a high from that night. There are very few things that I love more than playing music with some of my very favorite people, for even more of my favorite people. I feel loved, I feel fulfilled, and as always, I can’t wait until next time.
