COMMUNITY SAFETY POST- PLEASE READ/SWIPE THROUGH:

Some recent developments in the PDX rollerskating community have led me as a community organizer to have a lot of check-in conversations regarding people’s vision of what safety looks like in a large community that regularly gathers to overwhelming numbers.

Many people in the skate community have had the impression that and are the same organization.
We are not.
For a period of time we were loosely teamed up, and Rise & Roll did a lot of promoting for Secret’s event, but we are completely different groups, with what has unfortunately turned out to be very different visions of community & crowd safety in a pandemic.

Please read through the slides for a more detailed rundown of the process that has led us to make a very difficult and sad decision for the sake of our safety and our community’s well-being.

SCHEDULE UPDATE! Due to community feedback we’re moving the time of the Wednesday advanced downhill meetup, and adding one more trail skate to the weekly schedule, which means you now have 9 (or more) chances every week to come skate with us!

Many of you have asked about having later meetups so you can make it after work- we’ll be moving the daily Rigler jam/social skates later into the evening at the start of June, so more folks can make it and we can all skate into the sunset together! Stay tuned 😎🛼
