Taking Ownership PDX
We're back with another yard transformation! This yard was due for some attention from our hard-working volunteers, and they really got the job done. Watch as the yard transforms, with garden beds and a big lawn, clearing a path for the homeowners to use as they choose. The difference is impressive!

Thank you for all the support as we move into another project filled summer!

Happy Earth Day! 🌳 Today we recognize the importance of environmental protection, on a global and local level. Redlining and urban renewal has pushed communities into harmful environments that have impacted healthy living and housing. Here’s some history of Portland’s environment and why we work to create healthier and energy efficient homes for Black Portlanders!

We recently completed this full kitchen renovation and repair and we’re excited to share the story!
Years ago, when this homeowner bought their house, the kitchen wasn’t in great condition and eventually became completely inoperable. With grandchildren and family coming over, it has become increasingly important for the homeowner to have full use of the kitchen. We consider this an emergent need project as it helps to prevent more serious, expensive repairs in the future.
We fixed dry rot, replaced the flooring, built new cabinets and replaced all of the broken appliances and fixtures. In addition, we repaired some serious electrical and plumbing issues.
The result was a brand new kitchen, for the homeowner and the whole family to safely use and enjoy together. A big shoutout to our team and everyone who worked on this project! This work was done with the help of our SBCC (Sustainable Black Community Collaborative) partners, African American Alliance for Homeownership and Constructing Hope, funded by Meyer Memorial grant funding.
We are honored to do this work and be a part of a community who believes in the work we do. Thank you for your support!
