An introduction to the founder of clothforkids.org

Contact us if you are in need of diapers, specifically cloth diapers. We do have some sizes of compostable diapers available. Our volunteers give an orientation for those new to cloth diapering, and are here for troubleshooting when babies grow and need an adjustment to their diapering routine! Both online and in person depending where you are located!

YES! Small women CAN birth big babies!

1.   The internal dimensions of the pelvis matter, not the exterior.
2.   Generally early pregnancy pelvic exams are USELESS for diagnosing whether or not a woman can get her baby out months down the road. There are A LOT of changes that occur from the pregnancy hormones working to soften all the joints.
3.   Ultrasounds diagnose these ‘big babies’, but they can be inaccurate.  How close was your ultrasound prediction to your baby’s size? Were you induced based on an ultrasound weight?
4.   Especially if the baby is likely to be a good size, it’s critical to respect the labor process. Of course there are variables, however.  It’s become common to induce early to try to birth a smaller baby, but the trade-off is a mother who has not yet sufficiently softened for the big work of opening to birth, and a baby that is not ready to initiate labor and navigate the journey. We KNOW this because otherwise they would already be in labor.
5.   Especially important is that the mother is in her position of choice for pushing and birthing (delivering.). This is because she will naturally choose the most comfortable position, which will be the path of least resistance, and likely most efficient and effective.
6.   Ideal is
1.   Healthy diet emphasizing protein and minimizing processed food.
2.   Go into labor on own
3.   Mother’s position for pushing and birthing
4.   Practitioner who trusts birth.

Dear many of you that are birth experts - yes, this is not all of the conversation or all the details. It’s the start of the conversation
