Video of what happened before a son shot and killed a man hitting his mother on the Southside of Chicago posted by Raheema Lewis ... I held out on putting this video up but seeing all negative comments on how bad of a mother she is for allowing her child to protect his mother didn't sit well with me. You had to be there to understand. My prayer goes out to both families 🙏🏿🥺

Carlishia Hood, aged 35, reportedly incited her 14-year-old son to repeatedly shoot a man she was involved in a confrontation with last weekend at a restaurant located in the Far South Side. According to Cook County prosecutors, the incident occurred at Maxwell Street Express on 11656 S. Halsted St., where Hood engaged in an argument with Jeremy Brown, aged 32, while waiting in line for food.

Prosecutors stated that Brown's girlfriend was observed laughing and providing encouragement to Brown during the altercation. As the argument escalated into a physical altercation, Hood texted her son and instructed him to come to the restaurant. In response, Hood's son retrieved a firearm and shot Brown in the back after Brown punched Hood in the head, according to the prosecutors.

CHICAGO — Prosecutors on Thursday accused a Chicago woman of encouraging her 14-year-old son to shoot two people during an altercation at a fast food restaurant over the weekend, resulting in one man being killed.

The boy did not shoot the second person. Now the mother and son are both charged with first-degree murder.

“It is, in this court’s opinion, highly disturbing that the defendant would encourage her 14-year-old son to be armed with a firearm and fire shots at a victim on the streets of Chicago,” Judge Barbara Dawkins said during Carlishia Hood’s bail hearing on Thursday. She ordered Hood to pay a $300,000 bail deposit to be released on electronic monitoring.

Assistant State’s Attorney Anne McCord told Dawkins that Hood, 35, stepped inside Maxwell Street Express, 11656 South Halsted, to order food late Sunday night.

Her son remained in the car, and Hood, a concealed carry holder, left her firearm in the glove compartment, McCord said.

While Hood stood at the order counter, 32-year-old Jeremy Brown arrived at the restaurant, and the two began arguing. They had never met before.

During the altercation, Hood texted her son outside and pointed at Brown, McCord said. A female customer laughed at the argument and egged Brown on.

Moments later, Hood’s son entered the store with his hands in his hoodie pocket. McCord said the argument turned physical, with Brown punching Hood in the head at least three times near the pickup window.

After the first punch, Hood’s son drew her firearm from his hoodie and shot Brown in the back, McCord alleged.

Brown ran from the restaurant, with Hood’s son following. Hood ordered her son to shoot and kill Brown, McCord alleged. She said the boy continued firing at Brown, who died of his injuries.

The entire event was recorded on high-definition video with audio. Chicago police released snippets of the video this week as they tried to identify the suspects:

When the boy stopped shooting Brown, Hood pointed toward the female customer who laughed about the situation and instructed her son to shoot her, too, McCord said. Hood tried to wrestle her gun from her son when he didn’t go after the woman, but he maintained control of the weapon.

Hood and her son, who have no criminal histories, surrendered to police on Wednesday. Her defense attorney said she is a crossing guard for the city of Chicago. She also volunteers at New Hope Church, organizing children’s activities, the lawyer said.|
