The second match was a tougher player and although he didn't win, I could see him staying calm and trying to problem solve in the moment. He was changing tactics and exploring different approaches instead of shutting down and getting frustrated. I was really proud of his effort there even though it didn't end how he wanted.

I've also noticed a big difference in his "coachability." He's been taking corrections with curiosity instead of resistance or frustration. I overheard him talking to his sister about "filtered listening" and how that has helped him. (She has a similar response to corrections). We've been working through a lot on his technique and there's been some nice progress that I don't know we could've made before."
