Jeremy Rivas, County Councilman
Was It a Trick or a Treat?!
Indiana republicans want less government (example is the continued push to eliminate Township Government) and at the same time, they want to shift the cost of government to the worker (taxpayers) and away from businesses.
If people don’t like the direction Indiana is headed, stop voting for Republicans at the State level. This has been their platform for decades now.
SB1 is the newest piece of republican legislation in support of their platform.
I think an unintended consequence, or maybe it was intentional, will be the migration of people back into unincorporated areas of counties in order to avoid multiple layers of income taxation.
I believe cities and town will tax residents at the maximum amount sooner rather than later, regardless of what some maybe trying to portray.
It will be a lot more expensive for residents to live within corporate boundaries as opposed to unincorporated areas.
The only path forward for local republicans is to finish what their party started and they have continued to support election after election, and that is to shrink local government.
Otherwise, the taxpayers living in cities and towns throughout Indiana are about to get hit with massive tax increases!
