A big thank you to Sherry McCorkle for her informative presentation at our Fort Pierce meeting on the South Florida Water Management District, one of the misunderstood agencies by some residents on our property tax bill.

In simple terms, SFWMD manages flood control, water supply, water quality, and environmental restoration. The canals, pumps, reservoirs, and water systems that protect our communities and support our daily lives all fall within its mission.

Sherry took a complex topic and made it easy for our Fort Pierce Rotary members to understand.

It was a great reminder that this taxing district plays an important role in protecting both our water resources and our quality of life right here in St Lucie County.

Gold star, Sherry! Thank you for all that you do.
