Have you ever heard of my Ask Me Anything calls? This mama scheduled ONE call with me to discuss struggles around naps, how-to navigate weaning with her toddler and much more. This is the update I got yesterday...๐๐
"Hi. I just wanted to give you a quick update. It's been 9 days since our last nursing session. My husband has successfully taken on bedtime most of those nights. We have had 2 nights with NO WAKE UPS. (Happy dance!). Overall the suggestions you provided gave us the ammunition we needed to blow up the cycle that was causing so many issues for our family. We are in a much better place. Thank you so much."
I always preface the purpose of these 45 minute calls is not to magically fix everything โจ (even though that'd be pretty awesome) but to simply have a jumping off point and give you an action plan of what to do after. Who are these calls best for? ๐

Motherhood is beautiful and fulfilling and so so special. But its also mentally, physically and emotionally draining (if we're being completely honest ๐)
Carrying around the unseen mental load of motherhood means it's not necessarily something that you're talking about, but its that running list and worries you constantly have in your head.
PSA: admitting that its hard at times and sitting with that, being ok with that, I think is a good first step to knowing what to do next โคต๏ธ
We all strive for balance, but truth is that no one is completely balanced and has it all together in every aspect of life. It just ain't happening, and that's ok!! How can you start lightening your load?

Admit you can't do it all, (or at least not everything well)

Prioritizing rest for yourself

when you get time to rest, really try not to think about EVERYTHING ELSE you could be doing!!! ๐คฏ
Lastly, getting enough sleep is sometimes downplayed, and treated as a luxury. When the honest truth is that sleep is a fundamental need for all humans to survive and thrive! If you're struggling in this area with your little one it can feel so so hard and lonely when it doesn't have to be!

Do you dread anyone asking about your children's sleep? Do you have anxiety around the topic in general? You are not alone!
A simple question such as: "is baby sleeping through the night yet?" Is enough to make you feel on edge and somewhat irritated (especially if your babe is most definitely NOT sleeping well)
The subject of sleep can bring up such feelings as โคต๏ธ
๐คฏ Inadequacy (or feeling you're somehow doing something wrong)
๐คฏ Putting undue pressure on yourself because you're comparing your child/situation with someone else's.
๐คฏ You're TIRED and frustrated so you don't feel like yourself.
๐คฏ Mom guilt, because even though you could desperately use some help, you somehow feel you just need to learn to deal with it.
For any of these reasons and more the topic of you and or your child's sleep can be a hard one to navigate.
Remember, the sooner you can work through these triggering thoughts and feelings, the sooner you can start to work on getting support for yourself and feeling like yourself again. Drop a โค if any of these feelings have come up for you.

Celebrating our 9 year wedding anniversary yesterday and today 12โข8โข2013 (unfortunately didn't take any pics today ๐)
Life certainly isn't perfect. its messy, its crazy, but Its also fun and challenging! I think we do a pretty good job to support each other in our new indeavors, whether its changes in career, adapting to the many changes that come along with parenting two young children, and all the ups and downs of life itself.
Love my little family and looking forward to the big ๐ next year ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค

Hey mamas, I release you of this heavy weight you've been carrying around ๐
Motherhood is full of guilt.
Guilt about doing everything the "right way"
Guilt that IF we set up a certain pattern early on we've somehow "messed up" and have no hope of getting things back.
Heavy feelings of comparison that your child's sleep doesn't look like someone else's and where did you go wrong.
Here's a new outlook starting today: your child is an individual, not a robot ๐ค your journey will most likely look NOTHING like someone else's, and that's ok!
You also don't have to surrender to the idea that things will never change, or it is what it is, or it's just too late to start something new ๐คทโโ๏ธ
No more blaming yourself about what YOU think you should or shouldn't have done. If you need help and guidance its here ๐ค๐ค
