Honoring Black History Month by recognizing the leaders who have shaped efforts to address food insecurity in Black communities and beyond. For generations, Black leaders, organizers, farmers, educators, and nonprofit pioneers have understood that access to nourishing food is foundational to health, opportunity, and dignity. Through mutual aid, community gardens, food programs, and advocacy, they created pathways to nourishment and stability, even in the face of deep inequities.
Their leadership and vision continue to guide the work being done today. As we serve South Florida, we are proud to carry forward this legacy by working to reduce hunger and expand access to nutritious food for families, seniors, and children across our region. This work is about more than meals. It is about honoring community wisdom, strengthening neighborhoods, and committing to a future where every person has reliable access to food 🧡
