On Thursday, July 30, join Cal Poly Pomona Special Collections and Archives at the Ontario City Library!

David Castro, Archives and Rare Books Coordinator, and Andrew Kopp, Digital Projects Coordinator and Project Archivist for the Fairplex Records, present "From Agriculture and Horses to Concerts, Food, and Rides: A History of the Los Angeles County Fair." David and Andrew will walk through the history of the Los Angeles County Fair and the development of Fairplex, and show historic photographs and ephemera from the Fairplex Records.

Attendance is free and first come, first served.

Today is National Typewriter Day ⌨️! Within the Virginia Hamilton Adair Papers is an Olympia typewriter that Adair used following the loss of her sight in 1992. With assistance from friend and fellow Claremont poet Robert Mezey, Adair used the typewriter to write poetry and published a book titled Ants on the Melon (1996). The book made Time Magazine's Best Seller list in 1996. Adair would go on to publish Beliefs and Blasphemies (1998) and Living on Fire (2000).
