In Belize there are over 300 documented caves, many of which formed around 300 A.D. According to archeologists, 198 caves were used by the ancient Mayan civilization for religious and ceremonial purposes such as that of offering sacrifices to their rain god Chac. Caves are nature's time machines giving knowledge and offering experience of the lives of civilazations before us. (They are also just really beautiful to look at!)

Did you know that Bamboo is in fact a giant grass not a tree? However, Bamboo poles are incredibly strong and durable (some are even stronger than steel!) making them great for certain construction such as that of the raft we built at Peccary Hills.
