This is an important conversation that needs to be had. Data centers are resource intensive, even with closed loop systems. They require few jobs to maintain them, and will be built largely by out-of-town labor. Currently, the Artificial Intelligence that many of these support is replacing 6,000 American jobs a month and driving conversations of Universal Basic Income. The benefit to Bannock County is higher tax revenue per square foot. Residents must determine if the juice is worth the squeeze.
