When Meta approached me about launching a newsletter under its new platform, Bulletin, I was intrigued. The idea of writing about my interests and building a community spoke to me, as did the thought of directly connecting with those of you who have enjoyed my work over the years. As a writer navigating an irreparably fractured industry, the opportunity to create and own something on my terms deeply moved me. And so Coda was born.

I saw Coda as a journal of notes and observations on popular culture—and it grew into a place where some of my favorite writing in the last few years flourished. Coda gave me a place to write the criticism I wish I saw in major publications, and it gave me a place to talk s**t that wasn’t Twitter or a group chat.

After a lengthy review process, Meta made the decision to discontinue the Bulletin platform early next year. I have decided to end Coda here. Having the opportunity to try something new as a writer is an immense privilege. Thank you for coming along the ride. I appreciated all the DMs and e-mails and even the death threats from the Barbz.
