Happy New Year from SLC's Transgender Rights Initiative! To kick off the new year, we are announcing our next free statewide legal name & gender marker change clinic, which will be taking place THURSDAY, JANUARY 9th from 6:00-8:00pm EST. During the clinic, you will learn everything you need to know about the legal name and gender marker change processes, you will receive all of the forms and applications that you need to change your legal name in the Florida county where you reside AND to change the name and gender marker on your government-issued identification documents!

For information about why amending the gender marker on your federal identification documents (Social Security record and U.S. Passport) prior to January 20th, 2025 is so important, and to download the forms and information you need to amend your gender marker on those documents, visit SLC's website, www.southernlegal.org, click "Resources" and then click "Legal Name and Gender Marker Changes" (or visit www.southernlegal.org/resources ).

Our wish on this New Year's Day is for every transgender Floridian to have access to legal documents that accurately reflect the name and gender marker that match their gender identity, and for every trans Floridian to have the safety and protection that updated identification documents provide!
